Ambient Fireplace Remote Troubleshooting

By: Spotix

If your Ambient fireplace remote control is not responding, these checks may help narrow down the cause. The steps below apply to Ambient systems with a battery-powered receiver and DIP switches. Remote systems vary, so check your model’s manual before changing settings.

1. Locate the Receiver Box

The receiver is often inside the fireplace’s control compartment. If it has an ON/OFF/REMOTE switch, briefly move it to ON to check whether the fireplace responds. Return the switch to REMOTE after the test. If the fireplace does not respond, switch the receiver off and contact a qualified fireplace technician to inspect the appliance.

2. Check the Batteries

Replace the batteries in both the transmitter and receiver with fresh batteries of the type specified in your manual. Check that they are installed in the correct direction and make good contact with the terminals. If you see corrosion or damage, follow the manufacturer’s instructions before using the equipment.

3. Check the DIP Switch Settings

On systems that use DIP switches, the transmitter and receiver settings must match. Compare the switch positions on both units. If they differ, follow your model’s manual to set them to the same pattern. If they already match, don’t change them without another reason, such as interference described in the manual. If you have more than one remote system nearby, use a different setting for each system.

4. Test the Remote

Set the receiver switch to REMOTE and try the transmitter. If the fireplace still does not respond after checking the batteries and matching DIP switches, the issue may involve the remote, receiver, wiring or fireplace. Refer to the product manual or have a qualified fireplace technician diagnose the system.

Ambient Remote Troubleshooting FAQs

Should I change the DIP switches if the remote stops working?

First compare the transmitter and receiver settings. They need to match. Change them only as directed by your model’s manual, and avoid using the same settings as another remote system nearby.

What if the fireplace does not turn on using the receiver switch?

Return the switch to OFF or REMOTE, as appropriate for your receiver, and contact a qualified fireplace technician. The cause may be within the fireplace or its controls rather than the remote.
