Step 1. Double-check the age of your remote. If it's under 5 years old you might be covered by the manufacturer warranty, please contact the manufacturer or dealer you purchased the remote from. If over 5 years old, it likely will need replaced if the troubleshooting isn't successful.
Step 2. Make sure new or good batteries are installed properly in the transmitter and receiver. Make sure that the transmitter is within the 20’ – 25’ range of the receiver.
Step 3. As a test, slide the button switch to the “ON” position of the receiver. (The burner should ignite.)

Step 4. Push the “ON” button on the transmitter (you should hear a “BEEP” coming from the receiver) and the burner should ignite.

*Note for Remotes without a "Learn" Button
If your remote control does not have a "LEARN" button, skip this step and proceed with the following:
This troubleshooting guide does not cover all units and is generalized for common issues. Please refer to your remote/recievers manual or reach out to the manufacturer.
Unfortunately we don’t have access to just the cover and therefore don’t offer them separately.
If your receiver has a "learn" button, you may be able to just replace the remote. However we're not able to determine if the remote isn't sending the signal, or the receiver isn't picking it up. We recommend replacing both as it's more cost effective than replacing separately and will have a fresh warranty. You can find both of those bundled HERE
If your receiver has a “learn” button to pair them and it’s the same model, they should pair up. However we recommend replacing both in case the receiver is near the end of its useful life as it’s more economical than replacing them individually and you’ll have new warranty coverage. For more information, visit the Remote Replacement Guide
We only offer these remotes as a kit which includes both the remote and receiver as they come paired from the factory and are not interchangeable.
Most Skytech remotes have a 5 year warranty and they can be contacted here: Skytech Support
Some remote kits come with an optional wall mounting plate. If your existing receiver sits near or in the access area of your fireplace, the wall plate won’t be needed. The wall plate is for installs where wires are run through the wall and the receiver gets mounted in the wall to make it more accessible.
Yes it is!
Flame height control is a function of the gas valve, not the remote. So if you don't currently have this feature then it likely cannot be added.
It depends, but the typical life of a remote system is 7-15 years.
